The Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr. S.S. Savrikar inaugurated extension health centre at village Sasoi for providing free medical services to the rural area, on October 4, 2005. In his address Dr. Savrikar said that under this rural health programme university will run OPD on each Tuesday and Friday since no clinical facility is available in this area. The villagers will be surveyed for their health status and free medical facility will be provided to them. Depending upon response of the people the facilities for Panchakarma & Yoga Naturopathy will also be provided, Dr. Savrikar concluded. The physicians from each Dept. will be rotatory after every three month. The I.P.G.T & R.A. will provide physicians on each Tuesday whereas Shree Gulabkunverba Ayurved Mahavidyalaya on each Friday. Dr. Savrikar attended Roundtable conference
The Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Dr. S.S. Savrikar participated in Roundtable of the Vice Chancellor/Directors on Promotion of Research in Institutions of Health Sciences during October 19-21, 2005 at Vijayawada. He also presented a paper entitled “Scope and Need of Collaboration of Institutions of Health Sciences in the field of Basic Research in Ayurveda”.
Weekly Seminar
An applied concept of Amapitta and Samapitta with special reference to Amlapitta , by Dr. (Miss) Vrinda N. Kaka, M.D. (Ayu) Scholar, Dept. of Basic Principles on 06/10/2005, under the supervision of Prof. R.R. Dwivedi, HOD- Basic Principles & Dean- I.P.G.T & R.A. as Guide and Dr. Hitesh Vyas as Co-guide.
Total 32 patients of Amlapitta (Gastritis Syndrome) divided into three groups were treated by: 1) Guduchi 3gm twice a day after meal (Amapitta lakshan), 2) Sunthi 3gm twice a day before meal (Samapitta lakshan), 3) Avipattikar churna 3gm twice a day before meal (combination of Ama & Sama lakshan). Duration of the treatment was 30 days. After a course of therapy it was concluded that maximum sign and symptoms of Amlapitta are similar to Amapitta.
A comparative study of Matrabasti and some indigenous compound drug in the management of Sandhigata vata (Osteoarthritis), by Dr. (Miss) Mayuri Shah, M.D. (Ayu) Scholar, Dept. of Kayachikitsa, Speciality- Panchakarma on 13/10/2005, under the supervision of Prof. V.D. Shukla, HOD- Kayachikitsa, I.P.G.T & R.A. as Guide and Dr. (Mrs) A.R. Dave & Dr. Nilesh Bhatt as Co-guides.
Total 40 patients of Osteoarthritis divided into two groups were treated by : 1) Sarvanga Abhyanga Swedana followed by Matrabasti of Balataila 60 ml (Gada nigraha) for 3 weeks with 3 days interval at every week, 2) Sarvanga Abhyanga Swedana + Matrabasti + Indigenous compound drug in the form of tablet (Guduchi, Yashtim-adhu, Pippali, Kupilu, Nirgundi, Guggulu, Shallaki, Godanti ) 1.5 gm 3 times daily for 4 weeks. After a course of therapy in group -1, complete remission was found in 43.75% patients whereas marked improvement in 37.5% patients. In group – 2 complete remission was found in 23.52% patients and marked improvement in 47.05%.
A clinical role of Nasya Karma and Shamana Yoga in the management of Vatika Shirahshula with special reference to Tension Headache, by Dr. (Miss) Raj Mann, M.D. (Ayu) Scholar, Dept. of Kayachikitsa, Speciality- Panchakarma on 13/10/2005, under the guidance of Prof. V.D. Shukla, HOD- Kayachikitsa, I.P.G.T & R.A.
Total 21 patients of Tension Headache divided into two groups were treated by: 1) Nasya with Dashamula Taila (Bhaisajya Ratnawali 65/84-85) for 7 days with gap of 3 days. Total 3 sittings were given for one month, 2) Shamana Yoga- Saraswata Churna (Bhavaprakasha Unmada 22/46-47) 2 gm thrice a day for a month. After the treatment, both therapies provided good improvement in Vatika Shirahshula. However, Nasya Karma provided better relief in all the chief complaints.

participated in a workshop at
Shri Harisinh Gaur University,
Sagar (MP) during October 2-7, 2005.
